As we approach the midway point of the school year, Fine Arts students and teachers are preparing for the busy months ahead. Dedham High School will be hosting the annual Talent Show on Monday, February 6th. Students have been rehearsing their acts and the night promises to feature a variety of acts from singing and dancing, to instrumental and other talents. The show starts at 7 in the Dunne Auditorium and admission is $5.

all-town-logoThe following week will feature the All-Town Band Concert on February 8th. Held in the front gym of Dedham High School, the concert will kick off at 7pm and allows over 200 band students from grades 3 – 12 the chance to perform for the community and each other. This is perhaps the most attended concert of the year. Arrive early as parking will be limited to the lot by the tennis courts and Avery, with entry through the back of the gym complex. Dimg_1696onations will be accepted at the door.

Congratulations to Junior Christian Villard for representing Dedham at the Eastern District Music Festival. Christian performed with over 500 students from schools throughout Eastern Mass. at Boston Latin on January 7th. Auditioning and achieving a spot in the chorus is qute an honor.

dedhamhspalogoThe DHS Performing Arts Company is hard at work preparing their one-act play ‘Dog sees God’ for entry into the annual Mass. Education Theater Guild (METG) Dramafest. This judged, statewide competition is held at sites all over Massachusetts on Saturday, March 4th. Dedham will be performing at Norwood HS with 7 other schools. Good luck to the entire ensemble .

img_1720The cast of ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ are well into img_1718daily rehearsals to present the Class of 2017 Musical on March 17 and 18. This brings the classic tale of good versus evil to the stage with memorable songs and more than a little mayhem. Check back here for links to online ticket sales as the show approaches.

img_1725Both the and Winter Guard groups are preparing to start their competitive seasons in the coming month. Winter Percussion will present a show arranged by Director Mark Sachetta titled, ‘Marooned Marauders’. They will premiere their 2017 show at the All-Town Band Concert on February 8th. Winter Guard is preparing their show ‘Love Is Timeless’. Both will end their season with the New England Championships at the DCU Center in Worcester on April 1st.
