The Fine Arts Department continues to provide opportunities for students to perform and demonstrate their artistic talents.
Chorus students from Grades 5 through 12 will perform in the Dunne Auditorium at DHS at the Dedham All-Town Choral Concert on Tuesday, April 30th at 7 o’clock. Permission slips are being distributed through choral classes district wide. You can also print it by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. These need to be signed and are due back before 4/26.

One final shout out to the Class of 2013 for their fantastic presentation of Footloose. Outstanding performances by so many talented students made this Senior Musical stand out. We’d like to thank Director Mr. Nicholson and Choreographer Michael Lombo for all their time, effort, and patience in seeing this show come to life. A photo slide show can be seen by clicking on that page at the top of this site.
The DHS Winter Guard finished their competitive season at the New England Championships at Reading HS on Saturday, April 6th. The guard missed the A Class championship by .32, a very tiny amount in the scoring system. The girls performed amazingly throughout the season winning every show up to Championships. Congratulations on an unforgettable season.
Members: Martha Caissy (Co-Capt.), Amber Dillon, Sarah Emanuel, Merissa Jansky, Kristen Lebovitz, Stephanie O’Kane (Co-Capt.), and Sarah Perno. Staff: Director Jackie Gaffney was assisted by her father Paul Gaffney, Nicole Stieber, and Shannon Proctor. We’d also want to thank all parents and the Dedham Music Association for supporting the guards efforts throughout the season. The guard couldn’t have done this without you.
On Tuesday, April 9th, DHS hosted the Don Heald Night of Jazz in the Dunne Auditorium. This concert featured Jazz Bands, Choruses, and students groups from DMS and DHS. The night was dedicated to the former band director at Dedham Middle School, who passed away in January. This concert was a memorable tribute to a man who dedicated years of career to the students of Dedham. Students recalled his influence on their lives through their words and music. You can see the program by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. We have put a photo album in the DHS/DMS band and chorus categories in the upper right. Here is a video posted on You Tube of the performance of Freshman Joseph Borsellino’s original composition, Eternal Don. Thanks to all who contributed to this fitting tribute.
