We would like to acknowledge the many great events that our students and staff presented in May. It was an incredibly busy month and we are proud of all that our students achieved.
The annual DPS Art Show featured both art and music that received raves from all who attended. We have posted an ->art gallery of most of the artwork under the Art categories in the sidebar. We would also like to thank the DMS and DHS Jazz Bands for providing musical entertainment throughout the event. Congratulations to all our budding artists and the teachers who worked so hard to make the night a success.
The DHS Drama Club presented ‘A Night of Striking Satire’ for their Spring productions. The cast presented three short plays: No Body to Murder, The Big Black Box, and Check Please 2, the sequel to their Fall production. We have posted a photo gallery of the night in the ->Drama postings. This group continues to grow, and has led to DHS once again offering a theater class as part of the curriculum next school year.
May also saw instrumental and vocal performances at the All-Town Concert at DMS, and the DHS and DMS Spring Concerts. The All-Town event featured elementary students studying through the Dedham School of Music program and the middle school Symphonic Band. We have posted pictures from the ->DHS Spring Concert in the band and chorus categories. Concert audio can be found in the sidebar of the ->DHS band site. We are very proud of the great performances by so many musicians in the district. Good luck to seniors as they take their talents to college and beyond.
The DHS band performed at all elementary schools during concert week. Playing a selection of pop and classical favorites, the band introduced and demonstrated their instruments for future band students. We hope to make this an annual tradition. Students entering 5th grade in the fall will have the chance to begin on a band instrument. Information will be posted in the summer on this program.
The DHS Marauder Marching Band and Color Guard is recruiting members for the fall season. They will be holding an Open rehearsal from 6:00 to 8 on Tuesday, June 10th to start learning the 2014 competitive program. Band Camp will be held on 8/20 and 21; and the week of 8/25.
