Students from both the middle school and elementary schools will be performing the National Anthem at upcoming Providence Bruins games. Mr. Taylor will bring the middle school chorus to sing on Friday, October 21st. Students from Oakdale and Avery schools will join Ms. Allen to sing on Sunday, November 6th. Good luck to all performers.
Our elementary lesson program is in full swing, thanks to the efforts of the Dedham School of Music. Students in all four elementary schools are studying band and orchestra instruments to get ready for their first performances at the annual holiday concerts in December. Many thanks to new Executive Director Amy Fichera for all her efforts in getting this entire program underway. You can find dates for all elementary concerts by clicking on the Performance Calendar link at the top of the page.
The DHS Marching Band continues to refine their competitive program as they prepare to perform at NESBA circuit shows later in the month. Director Jeff Daniels has prepared a show that features the talents of all members that can be seen at home football games throughout the season. This year’s program is ‘D.C. vs. Marvel’ and features music from the movies ‘Superman’ and ‘Captain America’. They will also be performing at UMass Band Day at Gillette Stadium, and will travel to the annual Thanksgiving at Norwood HS in November.
The Music Association of Dedham High School will hold a parent meeting on Wednesday, October 26th in the DHS auditorium. Band parents of students in grades 8-12 are invited, as well as parents of students in our competitive groups (Winter Percussion and Winter Guard). The Music Association will go over plans for the year including fund raising efforts, help needed for both winter groups, and ways that parents can support all music programs at Dedham High School. If you would like to be added to the Music Association’s email list, please contact President Beth Berry directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
