Spring break gives us the chance to celebrate performances from the past few weeks, and congratulate so many talented students for their resounding successes. The Dedham High School Winter Percussion ensemble won the NESBA Scholastic A Class championship. Their show ‘Marooned Marauders’, earned them a Gold Medal score, and the New England title. The Winter Guard also received a Gold medal ranking at the New England finals. Congratulations to members and both coaching staffs for amazing seasons. Also a big thank you to all parents who helped to get these groups (and their equipment) to all the competitions. You can see video of both of their finals performances under Winter Guard and Percussion posts.
Musical productions are always a highlight of each school year, and the Senior Musical ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ and middle school’s ‘Mulan’ impressed audiences with their memorable songs and student
performances. Both casts spent many months preparing
these exciting renditions for the community
with the help of their dedicated advisors. You can see photo albums of each show by clicking on the links above.
The All Town events continued in March and April with jazz, orchestra, and vocal groups from grades 3-12 combining to the delight of family and friends. Audiences at the Don Heald Night of Jazz, and the All-Town String and Choral Concerts were treated to a variety of musical selections from students from all schools. The All-Town Choral night ended with almost 300 students singing as one to conclude the evening. Thanks to music teachers from DPS, the Dedham School of Music, and all students for sharing their talents at these entertaining All Town events.
The final weeks of the school year will provide opportunities for all students demonstrate achievement in the arts with public displays and performances.
