Arts in April

April begins with Dedham Middle School’s annual musical. This year students will present Shrek, The Musical on April 5 and 6. Tickets are $5. and can be purchased at the door (doors open at 6:30)

The following week DMS will host the last All-Town concert of the year with the String Concert on Tuesday, April 10th. The concert will feature string students from grades 3-12 as they perform a variety of pieces for each other and for family and friends. Donations will be accepted at the door.

We were excited to hear that one of our 9th grade students, Seraphim Battstone, had a piece-> chosen as finalist for Artsonia’s Artist of the Week! The voting is open until March 31st. Please visit Artsonia! to vote for Seraphim’s piece before April 1st. Artsonia is the online gallery that art students district-wide use to share work with teachers and families. Students from around the country are eligible to be chosen by the Artsonia! staff.

The Elementary Night of Folk Dance has been rescheduled again due to the incredible run of March weather that postponed a few events. The event will be held at Riverdale School on Wednesday, April 25th from 5:30 to 7 Students from grades K to 5 in all schools are invited to bring their families to demonstrate dances they have learned from countries around the world. This year we will be also run a food drive at the concert with donations going to the local food pantry. Please bring dry or can goods to donate if attending this event.

The Dedham HS winter groups are finishing up their 2018 seasons with appearances at the New England Championships. The <-Winter Guard will present their show, The Greatest Show Unearthed for the last time on March 31st at Salem HS. Winter Percussion-> presents Psycho In Suburbia at the percussion finals at Dartmouth HS on April 7th. Good luck to both groups.

Late March saw successful All-Town Concerts on back-to-back nights. The <-All-Town Choral Concert witnessed a packed house in The Dunne Auditorium. The finale featuring almost 300 students from grades 5-12 was a highlight for all who attended. On March 27th, the annual tribute to Don Heald-> raised funds for ALS and featured a variety of jazz and pop pieces. Thanks to all students and teachers for amazing nights or entertainment.
